Our circumstances and surroundings can certainly negatively affect our perspective. Our downward gaze can lead to depression or bitterness for us and those around us. Thank God that Jesus invites us to "lift up our eyes." Like He did with John the Baptist in Matthew 11, Jesus encourages us to look around at what God is doing. And to look upon Jesus. That perspective changes the whole direction of our lives.
