"Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers..." 1 Timothy 4:12
We encourage our youth to play an active role in our church family. They are significant members of the church family with value and purpose! Through meetups, service opportunities, and mentorship, we want to help our young people understand that they belong.
Through Bible study, fun activities, and serving together, we want to build relationships. Our relationship with God is the most important, but we also cultivate relationships with others, and learn to relate to the world around us as believers. Through God’s Word, we plan to equip our young people with the tools they need as they grow in grace and truth. With a firm foundation, we believe they will be able to continue as followers of Jesus who make an impact wherever He leads.
Why the name "GFC Youth?"
The acronym “GFC” is a mnemonic device we use to remember this about salvation:
GRACE alone, through FAITH alone, in Jesus CHRIST alone. This is a principle that comes from Ephesians 2:4-9, which says, “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
We used the acronym “GFC” to help our Youth remember this principle, but it became much easier for some to remember “Great fried chicken!” And so, the name was born.
