Crossroads Community Church exists to build disciples through: loving God, loving our neighbors and serving others through the power and grace of Jesus. Although we worship and learn together at our building, you are more likely to find us involved in the local happenings of Shamong and other local communities. Basically, we are doing life together with God's Holy Spirit directing our love and actions.
Springing out of a home Bible Study during the fall of 2004, Crossroads Church of Shamong, New Jersey held their first worship service on January 3, 2005. Two things were decided on that first Sunday. One: they needed more chairs and Two: this was the start of something good for the people who gathered to worship. Jim Schroeder was appointed as lead pastor. Jim, his wife Mandy, and their kids began serving with the church body in the community and beyond.
In the summer of 2019, Erik Vagen was appointed pastor and began serving with his wife Lauren and their children. Crossroads joined the Christian and Missionary Alliance in April 2019. “The C&MA” is a Christ-centered global movement more than 6 million strong. The Acts 1:8 family—inspired by Jesus’ love and empowered by His Spirit—is passionate to bring the good news about Him to local neighborhoods and the world since the late 1800’s. Crossroads is a place to come to connect with God and your neighbors, enjoy a cup of coffee and the smiles and laughter of children having a good time. There is room for you and a place for you to use your gifts to help others in our local area, region and around the globe.
Crossroads is committed to helping others. In our history, we have built a home for Katrina victims, sent a group to Acuna Mexico to minister at a local orphanage, painted the home of a local family and supported several missionaries in their work. Since spring of 2018, we have hosted a free community dinner called “Catering to the Community” on the first Friday of the month. In spring of 2020, we started a food pantry which meets the needs of neighbors throughout the area. In the fall of 2020, we began a local branch of "Recovery Church" for those affected by alchohol and drug addiction. Pastoral Leadership School started to be hosted at Crossroads which equips men and women for vocational ministry. Also, we continue to add more Life Groups on different meeting times throughout the week that are designed to help folks grow closer to God and each other in relationships.
As part of the larger body of Christ, the Crossroads family is free to minister alongside all different kinds of churches, organizations and individuals in order to advance the cause of Jesus Christ.
Crossroads Church is led by an Elder Board which includes a preaching elder. This group is responsible for the vision of the church and governance. Each elder has an area of responsibility and oversight in the church.
We invite you to join us for worship on Sunday mornings at 10:00am in person at 445 Oakshade Road (or online at Facebook and YouTube), a Life Group meetup, or at one of our community events as can be seen on this website.
